Hydrostor is a creator of Advanced Compressed Air Energy Storage (A-CAES) - long-duration, emission-free, economical energy storage. Its method is as simple as it is effective: When surplus power is available on the grid, Hydrostor directs it through turbines, transforms it to compressed air and pump it into massive underground caverns. Once in the cavern, it is retained as potential energy. When the grid requires that power back, the storage straightforwardly inverts the process. Adiabatic compression reuses heat for efficiency, while hydrostatic control guarantees stable pressure, decreasing footprint and enabling flexible siting. The company declares delivery of up to 500MW for 8 hours and project lifetime up to 50+ years.
